Experience

Lisenced by the Department of Education in: English, grades 8-12 Special Education (All Subject Areas), grades 5-12 I currently teach 10th grade geometry and biology. I also teach a high school level course on executive functioning skill development (organization, task analysis, and test prep) My strongest skills are in the area of reading comprehension and writing. My background in special education has provided me with the skills to differentiate my teaching and individually tailor my instruction for a variety of learning capabilities. I want to tutor not only because I love teaching and helping to inspire life long learning, but also because it helps to make me a better teacher in the process. In addition to teaching, I also run a program within the high school for students with emotional disabilities. I believe that education has to encompass both the academic and emotional well-being of the student in order to be effective. I have worked hard to find a balance between equipping my students with coping strategies as well as academic ones in order to better prepare them for the stresses of today's world.

Hobbies

Hey! I'm interested in a lot of things, but music particularly. I play drums and guitar and have played in Boston bands for the last 7-8 years. I like art and literature and creativity and I bring all of these things to the table in my tutoring approach. In my classroom I teach to a varied mix of learning styles. From struggling learners to AP students; I've found the relationship building piece is essential to student engagement.
